LGBT Medical Student Experiences

Overview:
We are a group queer and trans medical students committed to understanding the unique experiences of LGBTQIA+ medical students during clinical rotations. In 2024, we conducted the largest study to date on LGBTQIA+ medical student experiences during the preclinical years and are currently working to publish these findings. Our next step is to explore experiences during clinical rotations. In today’s political climate, understanding how LGBTQIA+ students navigate hospital-based training, and how we can better support them, is more important than ever.

This survey has been approved by the IRBs of Temple University, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and AT Still University.

Target Audience:
Students who are currently enrolled in an MD or DO institution and have completed at least 2 different clinical rotations or those who have graduated within the last year are eligible to participate.
