A Qualitative Analysis of Maternity Care Experiences in LGBTQ+ Birthing Persons: The Effect of Care Team Communication

Overview:
This qualitative study examines the perceived impact of how care teams communicate on maternity care experiences for LGBTQ+ birthing persons. Inclusion criteria for this study include identifying as LGBTQ+, having given birth in an United States hospital-based labor and delivery unit, and having been 18 years in age or older at the time of the most recent pregnancy. Data for this study is being collected via an self-administered anonymous researcher-developed survey.  This study aims to close the gap in literature regarding the communication needs of LGBTQ+ birthing persons.
