Inclusive Terminology in Obstetrics and Gynecology: Understanding Patient Preferences Across the Gender Spectrum
Overview:
The field of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) deals with pregnancy and childbirth (obstetrics) as well as the health and diseases of female reproductive organs like the vagina, uterus, and ovaries (gynecology). Many terms commonly used in OB/GYN are gendered and may not fully reflect the diversity of patients receiving OB/GYN care. This study aims to explore patient preferences regarding terms used in the field of OB/GYN and gather input on how to make the language more inclusive and representative of all patients.
