Understanding and Addressing Impacts of Legislation Banning Gender Affirming Mental Health Care in the U.S.: A Pilot Study of Mental Health Professionals and Advocates
Overview:
We are writing as social work researchers leading a study about the impacts of legislation banning or restricting gender affirming mental health care for transgender youth in various states. We are currently seeking: 1) social workers, psychologists, therapists, and other mental health providers who work with transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse youth and young adults, and 2) advocates, activists, and other professionals working toward trans equity in various states or nationally to engage in a virtual interview. Confidential interviews will last about one hour and focus on providers’ and advocates' experiences, concerns, and strategies in light of this legislation. We aim to use the findings from this study to support advocates working for trans equity, as well as trans youth and mental health providers.
