Founded in 1981, GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality is a national organization committed to ensuring health equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) individuals, and equality for LGBTQ+ health professionals in their work and learning environments. To achieve this mission, GLMA utilizes the scientific expertise of its diverse multidisciplinary membership to inform and drive advocacy, education, and research.


Position Description: 

GLMA is seeking a dynamic and motivated Membership Associate to join our team. The Membership Associate will play a pivotal role in cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with GLMA members, fostering engagement, and driving growth in membership. They will also help to design, plan, and execute GLMA’s Annual Conference on LGBTQ+ Health. This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the GLMA team to ensure that members are actively engaged in the organization's mission and programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage membership databases and ensure accurate and up-to-date member records.
  • Help to develop and implement strategies to attract new members and retain existing ones.
  • Regularly analyze membership trends and develop reports for the leadership team.
  • Work collaboratively to research, create, and curate a wide range of resources for LGBTQ+ health professionals, such as educational materials, toolkits, job boards, etc.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries, providing excellent customer service.
  • Identify, establish, and steward partnerships with healthcare organizations and institutions to expand GLMA's membership base.
  • Collaborate with other LGBTQ+ organizations and healthcare stakeholders to promote membership and engagement opportunities.
  • Represent GLMA at conferences, meetings, and other engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with GLMA committees and Sections to facilitate member involvement in all organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling content for member communications, including newsletters, emails, and social media and to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all membership materials.
  • Explore innovative ways to engage members through digital platforms and social media.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, including health professionals and researchers, to ensure the accuracy and relevance of GLMA resources.
  • Help to plan, organize, and promote member events (virtual and in-person) to enhance member engagement.
  • Design and execute educational programming for LGBTQ+ and allied health professionals to build cultural competency around LGBTQ+ health equity - this includes serving as key team member in planning and execution of Annual Conference on LGBTQ+ Health.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in membership management, engagement, or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of LGBTQ+ healthcare issues and commitment to GLMA's mission and vision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in database management and membership software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with demonstrated project management skills.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing and social media platforms.
  • Experience with event planning; experience with CE/CME programming a plus.

Compensation:

$45,000-$60,000 commensurate with experience
