Behavioral Health GLMA is the professional home for LGBTQ and ally counselors, psychotherapists, clinical social workers, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, family therapists, social workers and behavioral health students as well as a number of other disciplines. GLMA is proud to work and maintains strong relationships with the Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists, the American Psychological Association, National Association of Lesbian and Gay Addiction Professionals, the American Counseling Association and the National Association of Social Workers, among many other behavioral health organizations, to advocate for LGBTQ providers and LGBTQ healthcare. GLMA's Behavioral Health Task Force The mission of GLMA's Behavioral Health Task Force is to ensure equity in healthcare access, education, and training for SGM individuals and healthcare providers. The vision is to establish GLMA as a professional home for SGM behavioral health providers. Our goals are to: - Increase collaboration between behavioral health and other healthcare professionals.
- Advance SGM health issues within behavioral health practice, research, education, and organizational policy.
- Provide opportunities for behavioral health professionals to collaborate on these issues within their own fields to bring progress to their organizations and educational institutions.
