In 2014, the Nursing Section became the first section established by GLMA, honoring the legacy and critical role of nurses in healthcare. The GLMA Nursing Section is a professional home for GLMA members who are LGBTQ+ and allied nurses, nursing students, and nurse practitioners dedicated to improving health care and the health of all LGBTQ+ individuals and families.
The GLMA Nursing Section focuses on making healthcare more LGBTQ+ affirming through practice, education and research, policy, and organizational climate committees. Any GLMA member who supports the goals of the section and is committed to interdisciplinary connections among all health professionals is welcome to join.
To join the Nursing Section, indicate your interest in your GLMA member profile. If you're not yet a GLMA member, you can join here.
GLMA is proud to continue supporting nursing professionals and nursing students as part of GLMA’s 44th Annual Conference on LGBTQ+ Health.
Building on the success of prior Nursing Section programming, this year’s conference will further integrate nursing content into the full conference experience. Rather than offering a standalone Nursing Track, sessions accredited for nursing professionals will be woven throughout all four content tracks, supporting interdisciplinary learning and expanding opportunities for nursing professionals to engage across the full breadth of LGBTQ+ health education.
The Nursing Section Luncheon will continue to take place during the Annual Conference. Visit our conference page to learn more.
