In 2014, the Nursing Section became the first section established by GLMA, honoring the legacy and critical role of nurses in healthcare. The GLMA Nursing Section is a professional home for GLMA members who are LGBTQ+ and allied nurses, nursing students, and nurse practitioners dedicated to improving health care and the health of all LGBTQ+ individuals and families.
The GLMA Nursing Section focuses on making healthcare more LGBTQ+ affirming through practice, education and research, policy, and organizational climate committees. Any GLMA member who supports the goals of the section and is committed to interdisciplinary connections among all health professionals is welcome to join.
For the past 11 years, the Nursing Section has gathered at GLMA's Annual Conference on LGBTQ+ Health to hold a Nursing Summit. The 11th Annual Nursing Summit took place virtually on Saturday, September 30, 2023, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a part in making this summit a success!
This year, the Nursing Summit will undergo a significant change as it integrates seamlessly into the main conference, foregoing its standalone day format. This integration marks a strategic move towards fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and maximizing networking opportunities among health professionals.
Sessions specifically designed for nursing professionals and nursing students will now be represented in the Nursing Track and will take place on Day 2 of the Annual Conference. The Nursing Section Luncheon will also take place on Day 2. Visit our registration page to learn more about Nursing Track Day Passes which are available for nursing professionals and nursing students ONLY.
