What is GLMA's Lifetime Membership, and how does it differ from annual membership?

GLMA's lifetime membership is a one-time commitment that provides individuals with permanent access to GLMA’s benefits, eliminating the need for annual renewals. Unlike annual membership, lifetime membership offers a sustained and enduring connection to GLMA's mission.

What benefits come with GLMA's Lifetime Membership?

How will GLMA Lifetime Members be recognized?

Lifetime Members will be recognized on GLMA’s website, as well as in annual materials such as the Annual Impact Report and the Annual Conference Program Guide, among other opportunities.

Can I upgrade from an annual membership to a Lifetime Membership?

Yes, current members who have renewed within the last six months have the option to upgrade from an annual to a Lifetime Membership by paying the difference in fees. This allows individuals to make a long-term commitment to supporting GLMA's initiatives and securing the associated lifetime benefits.

If you have not renewed your membership within the last six months, you can simply select the Lifetime Membership as a new membership plan and your records will automatically be merged in the system.

How does GLMA use the funds generated from Lifetime Memberships?

Funds from Lifetime Memberships contribute to GLMA's ongoing efforts to advance LGBTQ+ health equity, including advocacy initiatives, educational programs, and research. It ensures a sustainable source of support for the organization's mission.

Why does the Lifetime Membership say it is valid for 1,000 years?

Our new system requires an expiration date be entered, so the Lifetime Membership is entered into our member database with an expiration date of 1,000 years from the join date. If a member lives past 1,000 years of age (what a miracle!), we will happily extend the membership free of charge.

Is the Lifetime Membership transferable or refundable?

GLMA's Lifetime Membership is non-transferable and non-refundable. The commitment made by Lifetime Members is a personal investment in the organization's mission and cannot be transferred to another individual. However, if at any time a Lifetime Member would like to cancel their membership and no longer be listed as a Lifetime Member, they can do so by contacting members@glma.org.

Can organizations or businesses purchase GLMA Lifetime Memberships?

Are there any tax benefits associated with GLMA's Lifetime Membership?

GLMA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and contributions, including Lifetime Membership fees, may be tax-deductible (less the cost of benefits received).

How can I update my contact information or preferences as a Lifetime Member?

Lifetime Members can easily update their contact information and preferences by logging into their account in GLMA’s member portal on the organization's website. Alternatively, they can contact GLMA's membership services at members@glma.org for assistance.

What happens if GLMA undergoes structural changes or merges with another organization?

At this time, no structural changes or mergers are in consideration. In the event of structural changes or a merger in the future, GLMA is committed to ensuring that Lifetime Members continue to receive the benefits they were promised. Any significant changes would be communicated transparently to Lifetime Members, and efforts would be made to preserve their ongoing support and connection to GLMA's mission.
