GLMA Supports California SCR 110

GLMA recently submitted letters to the California Senate Committee on Health, California Senate Standing Committee on Judiciary, and all California State Senators in support of Senate Resolution 110, a resolution calling for an end to nonconsensual, medically unnecessary surgeries on children born with differences in sex development (DSD). The letters reference GLMA policy, adopted in 2016, supporting a delay in any medically unnecessary surgical intervention until the patient can provide consent.

This week, the California Senate will vote on this resolution. We need GLMA's health professional members to call their California senator and ask the senator to vote yes on SCR 110!

Here is how YOU can help:

Use your address to find your Senator here, and call their office using the following script:

Hello, my name is ________ and I’m a(n) [fill in your health profession] who lives in CITY, ZIP. I am calling to ask the Senator to support SCR 110, introduced by Senator Wiener; the bill is scheduled to be eligible for a vote this week. I strongly believe the California legislature should respect children born with intersex traits and call upon all of us within the healthcare professions to take necessary measures to protect such children from medically unnecessary, non-therapeutic surgical procedures performed without their consent.”

Join GLMA today in support of SCR 110!
